How To Cook Single Boiled Rice

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice ( BPT/Sona Masoori – Single Boiled Rice)
  • 4 cups of water

Method

  • Wash the rice and soak it in some water for 30 minutes
  • Add water in a pan and bring it to a boiling point
  • Lower the flame and add rice
  • Close the pan with a lid and let it cook for 10 minutes or till the rice is soft and cooked. You should be able to crush a grain of rice easily between the fingers
  • Remove from the flame, drain out excess water and serve

Tips

  • You can add salt as per your taste
  • You can drain the rice in a colander and use the water for other purposes

How To Use Idli Rice

Idli Rice is widely used across India to make idlis, Dosa, adai, khara kuzhipaniyaram etc. Learn how to use Ramajeyam Premium Idli rice and prepare the batter to make idlis.

Ingredients

  • idli rice – 4 cups
  • Urad Dal/White Lentil – 1 cup
  • Fenugreek seeds – 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste

Method

  • Wash and soak the rice in a bowl with enough water for 4-5 hours
  • Wash and soak urad dal along with fenugreek seeds in a separate bowls for 4-5 hours
  • Firstly grind the soaked urad dal with enough water to make a smooth batter
  • Next grind the rice with enough water
  • Transfer the content in a pan and add some salt to taste and mix it well. If you feel the batter is too thick, add some more water and keep it overnight or keep it outside for 7-8 hours for fermentation
  • Do not make the batter too thin. It should be of flowing consistency, not runny. Once the batter rises and it has fermented, you can use it to make Idli

Tips

  • To prepare dosa batter, you can use the same ratio as mentioned above but add ½ cup of raw rice while soaking rice to get more crispy dosas. Adjust water accordingly
